snickerdoodles.

I kind of pride myself on my snickerdoodles. They are slightly crunchy on the outside and so super soft on inside and they stay like that for a few days (in an airtight container). I made these for my brother and sent them to him over in the missionary training center.

My favorite thing about snickerdoodles and the most important ingredient- cream of tartar. Ohhhh yum. Sometimes I crave raw snickerdoodle dough more than chocolate chip cookie dough. Gasp!

I have had this recipe forever and I really don't remember where it came from. But it's foolproof. So here it is.

Chewy Snickerdoodles
{source: ?? the moon?}

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 and 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 and 1/2 cup flour
Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
Add eggs one at a time.
Add cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
Add in the flour. Scrape sides as you go.

Pop the bowl of dough into the refrigerator for 15 min.
Roll into balls and roll in a 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tbls cinnamon mixture.
Keep the dough in the refrigerator inbetween batches.

Cook for 8 mintures on 375.

clearly the johnson household didn't know about cream of tartar because i've never heard of it either, but i cannot wait to make these! i can't believe you're sharing your recipe? you should just make it mandatory that everyone who adds it to their recipes titles it "Rachel's Snickerdoodles" so you can live on in infamy.

Last night I had a baking crave and I saw your post so I decided to try to make them (I've never made snickerdoodles before) and my husband said I should just make chocolate chip...I forced him to try them and he loved them! Great recipe!!! You've converted me to snickerdoodles!!
